What Is AI Slop?
AI content is having a moment. And honestly? Most of it is rubbish. Hyper-realistic visuals. Flawless lighting. Stock…. but without the human!!
Around 34 million AI images are generated every day. That’s not creativity, that’s congestion. Feeds are flooded with content that looks polished, sounds generic, and says absolutely nothing. They are there to stop you scrolling, get you clicking, fill your feeds and your inboxes. Mass produced digital content.
That’s AI slop.
AI slop is content made because it’s fast, not because it’s right.
It’s:
Visuals without taste
Copy without a point of view
Content without intent
It fills space. It doesn’t build brands. But why should you care? if it saves time and money?
TikTok and Meta have reportedly started de-ranking AI-generated content to prioritise human-made work. If social algorithms are penalising it, imagine what audiences are doing.
AI slop:
Dilutes your brand voice
Trains people to scroll past you
Makes you look like everyone else
And blending in is the fastest way to disappear. It sounds like I am anti AI, I’m not. I’m anti-using it as a shortcut.
AI should support thinking, not replace it. The brands winning right now aren’t producing more, they’re making better decisions. In a world drowning in generated content, taste, clarity, and human perspective are your biggest advantages.
